The curriculum includes the following advanced courses: numerical simulation of micro- and nanostructures, methods for investigation of nanosurface topology, technology of micro- and nanostructures and other courses, useful for PhD students for writing a dissertation, participation in research projects, etc. The major part of research work is focused on fabrication of micro- and nanostructures for optics and electronics.
Required background: Fundamentals of solid-state physics, fundamentals of chemistry, programming, vacuum technology.
The aim of the program is to prepare highly qualified scientists, capable to develop and investigate components for micro- and nanoelectronics, microoptics, sensorics and nanophotonics.


Professional skills
The graduates will obtain the following professional skills:
- Using AFM and SEM for micro- and nanostructure characterization;
- Optical and electronic microcomponents design and engineering;
- Performing research in the field of micro- and nanostructures.
